Top 5 Questions About Chiropractors . . . And the Answers

Posted under Choosing a Chiropractor

Question #1 – If I have injured soft tissue–muscles, ligaments, tendons–should I see a Chiropractor, a Physical Therapist, or a Medical Doctor?

Answer - There is no such thing as a “One-Stop Shop”.  Medical Doctors are often utilized to help manage pain levels, inflammatory responses, and co-manage patients during their initial stages of recovery.  A Chiropractor diagnoses and treats joint mechanics, muscle tension/loading patterns, and neurological sequencing.  Once this is corrected, it is often necessary to utilize physical therapy.

Question #2 – Do all Chiropractors treat similarly?

Answer - The reality is that there are over 100 techniques, or treatment options, and varying philosophies within the Chiropractic field that enables an individual the opportunity of matching the right technique and doctor to their unique condition.

Question #3 – What do Chiropractors do, specifically?

Answer – If any one of joints, soft tissue, and/or neurological functions are altered, the other two are affected.  Over time an altered state changes movement patterns and can lead to more serious problems.  Altered or faulty movement patterns will lead to instability which will lead to temporary or long term damage.

  • Chiropractors are PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED to understand how every joint in the body works
  • Chiropractors are EXPERTS in the function and movements of all soft tissue
  • Chiropractors are EXPERTS in how the brain processes joint/soft tissue movement patterns

Question #4 – What if I choose not to see a Chiropractor?

Answer – As it was stated in answer number #3:  Altered or faulty movement patterns may lead to instability which can result in temporary or long term damage.  Avoid the risk by visiting your Chiropractor as recommended.

Question #5 – How do I pick the right chiropractor?

Answer – Choosing the right Chiropractor for you is an important step.  We recommend that you take into account some of the following qualities when deciding on a Chiropractor:

  • Education, Training, and Experience – this goes without saying, but a good Chiropractor should have a good, solid education under his belt and should possess the skillset and experience to tend to your individual needs.
  • Availability – There’s nothing worse than having to wait for your Chiropractor to help you when you’re in pain.  Dr. Drussel is committed to being available during normal office hours as well as WHEN YOU NEED HIM.  Fill out the form found on each page of this website, and he will get your message within a couple of minutes and return your call.  It’s that easy, and he’s that responsive!
  • Communication Style – Tired of being spoken down to, like you don’t know where the pain is?  Dr. Drussel emphasizes good communication – listening to the problem, probing for complete understanding, then drawing upon his education, experience, and training to provide relief.
  • Track RecordListen to what others have to say about their experience with Dr. Drussel.

Visiting a Chiropractor – What to Expect

Posted under Choosing a Chiropractor

Chiropractors help in restoring nervous system function. Many chiropractors also focus on the biomechanics of the body such as joint motion. Helping to restore proper spinal biomechanics and improved nervous system function begins with a case history.

A person’s case history is vital, as it reveals the background about their health including such things as surgeries, accidents, the onset of the current condition, and other details which led to their visit to the Chiropractic Clinic.   After reviewing a person’s case history and discussing the specific problem, a thorough orthopedic, neurological, and chiropractic examination may be performed. X-rays may be taken which will help uncover structural and functional problems. Then, once the examination is complete, the Chiropractor will explain the findings and outline a treatment plan with the patient. Progress is then monitored with periodic examination and follow-up reports.

Finding a Chiropractic Physician who understands your specific health care needs, and then applying the most current physical medicine treatments and approaches to addressing your health problems, can be a challenging task.

At Drussel Chiropractic and Rehabilitation our goal is to work with each and every client to explain and formulate a plan of action that will lead to improved health and comfort.

For immediate attention, provide your information in the form found on the right-side of this page and see how quickly we respond!  We look forward to speaking and working with you.
